Less than three months ago, I wrote about the tragic shooting targeting legislators in Minnesota.  A senseless act that killed two people and injured two others.

This week, we are once again grieving after the assassination of Charlie Kirk at a public event on a Utah college campus. His death forever changes the lives of his family, friends, and the greater community. The attack has sent shockwaves of fear across the campus and the country. Tragic. Senseless. Enough is enough.

Regardless of politics or ideology, we are united by grief and by hope that we can prevent such violence in the future.

In times like this, our communities must choose compassion over division, grace over anger, and community connection.

Enough is enough. Let this tragedy call inspire in us unity, empathy, and love. We have the opportunity to build safer, stronger, and more connected communities. Support one another and honor the victims by focusing on healing rather than deepening division.

One way to take action is by promoting CAI’s Civility Pledge in your community. Together, we can be an example that tragedy will not divide us, rather it will bring us closer.
