Sept. 15 is National Voter Registration Day. CAI is proud to partner with over 2,000 diverse organizations nationwide to help people register, check, and update their voter registration. Registering to vote is more than a civic responsibility. Voting is an opportunity to play a part in the critical decisions that impact our daily lives, elect candidates whose viewpoints align with CAI’s public policies, and advocate for the future we want to build together.
The strength of any community lies in the voices of the people who call it home. Whether you’re passionate about the future of your community, concerned about issues affecting the community association industry, or simply want to help shape public policies, voting is one of the most powerful ways to make an impact on the issues that matter most.
Roughly 250 million adult U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in the 2026 midterm elections. According to the Foundation for Community Association Research’s Homeowner Satisfaction Survey, a staggering 86% of all homeowners always or usually participate in national elections and 84% always or usually participate in state and local elections. With 78.1 million people living and working in community associations across the United States, this makes CAI the nation’s largest nonpartisan voting force.
Strong communities are built by engaged citizens who show up, speak up, and act. By registering to vote and participating in elections, you become part of a collective effort to strengthen democracy, elevate community priorities, and ensure that elected leaders understand the needs and values of the people they represent.
CAI strives to help advocates make a plan to vote in elections at every level. Help CAI #GetOutTheVote this election season by promoting CAI’s voter resources. Download our Register to Vote flyer, print out several copies, and place them in highly trafficked areas around your community. This includes elevators, laundry rooms, fitness centers, club houses, and other common areas. This flyer directs viewers to CAI’s nonpartisan voter tools.
Every voice matters, and every vote helps effectively tell the story of our communities. The first step is making sure you’re registered and ready to participate. CAI’s #VoteForHome Voter Resource Center is designed to help CAI members across the United States vote in critical elections. Here you can register to vote, find out what’s on your ballot, locate your polling place, track the status of your ballot, check your voter registration, request an absentee ballot, and sign up to receive election reminders. Young people also can pledge to register to vote when they turn 18.
As you participate in the election and complete your civic responsibility, share your election selfies, stories, and celebrations with CAI at government@caionline.org and post on social media with the hashtags #VoteReady, #CAIVotes, and #VoteforHome. Together, let’s ensure the perspectives of those living and working in community associations nationwide are considered in this election and beyond. It’s time to make our voices heard.
While CAI is a nonpartisan organization supporting widespread civic engagement regardless of party politics, the CAI*PAC allows us to support candidates that advocate for well-reasoned legislation and oppose proposals that create unnecessary burdens on the governance and operation of community associations.
