CAI is committed to helping elected officials support the constituents they serve, which is why we developed a brand-new webinar to educate them on the industry. Community Association Living: An Essential Guide for Homeowner Leaders is a free, easy-to-follow online course that outlines the fundamentals of community association living.
CAI encourages legislative action committee members and advocates to share this webinar with their elected officials to raise awareness and educate lawmakers, so they are better prepared to engage with constituents when questions and concerns arise regarding community associations. As the leading organization for community association board members, managers, and business partners, CAI is dedicated to promoting strong, well-educated community leadership and fostering constructive relationships with all local decision makers.
Webinar topics include:
- Define the term community association and articulate the three characteristics common to all community associations.
- Describe the three different kinds of community associations.
- Explain the differences between the various types of governing documents and the relative importance of each.
- Describe the major components of a community association: rules and regulations; governance; and community management.
- Gain a greater understanding of how federal, state, and local government affect community associations.
- Understand the basic relationship between community association residents and their boards.
- Detail the rights and responsibilities of homeowners as members of a community association.
By empowering legislators and homeowners with practical knowledge and accessible guidance, CAI aims to foster more transparent and collaborative relationships that benefit constituents and community associations.
To further support your advocacy, CAI offers free additional resources tailored specifically to share with policymakers through our Legislator Corner, along with updates on 2026 advocacy priorities and legislative activity via the CAI Advocacy Blog.
