CAI has been selected for a Power of Associations Silver Award from the American Society of Association Executives for our advocacy and legal efforts surrounding the Corporate Transparency Act.
The ASAE Power of Associations Awards program recognizes outstanding, innovative, and impactful initiatives led by associations and their dedicated members and volunteers.
Following the enactment of the act, CAI launched a robust, multi-pronged advocacy campaign to protect community associations. Our efforts focused on:
- Lobbying Congress, the U.S. Treasury Department, and FinCEN
- Strategic communications and grassroots outreach to educate and mobilize both members and non-member stakeholders
- Litigation (CAI filed a lawsuit against the government) to prevent enforcement of the act
CAI measured our success through policy outcomes and unprecedented member engagement. More than 12,150 CAI advocates contacted their members of Congress to support this initiative, which demonstrated the power and unity of our community.
This marks the second time in recent years that CAI was honored with this award. In 2022, we were recognized for our condominium safety public policy initiatives following the tragic collapse of Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Fla.
This achievement would not be possible without the leadership and support of CAI’s Government and Public Affairs Committee, Federal Legislative Action Committee, Board of Trustees, CCAL Board of Governors, legal and advocacy consultants, and staff.
A huge thank you to Brendan Bunn, Esq., CCAL, and Edmund Allcock, Esq., CCAL, who generously donated hundreds of hours of legal expertise, personal, and professional time throughout our federal lawsuit. Their dedication and legal prowess were instrumental in our success.
CAI looks forward to sharing this recognition with our members and celebrating with you at upcoming CAI events. Thank you for your support and commitment to advancing our shared mission.
