September 17 is National Voter Registration Day and CAI Advocacy is here to assist community associations, neighbors, and industry leaders to register to vote.

Promoting and Empowering Civic Engagement in Community Associations

According to the Foundation for Community Association Research’s Homeowner Satisfaction Survey, a staggering 84% of all homeowners plan to participate in state and national elections. In line with this strong commitment to civic engagement, CAI takes proactive steps to empower and celebrate community association members’ active participation in the democratic process.

This election season, promote CAI’s voter resources in your community. Our flyer promoting National Voter Registration Day directs viewers to CAI’s nonpartisan voter tools. Using the QR code, residents can register to vote, check or update their voter status, find their polling place, sign up for election reminders, and more at www.caionline.org/CAIvotes.

Place this flyer in community common areas to encourage residents to vote and give CAI a prominent voice on a national scale.

  1. Download & print the flyer
  2. Place in your community’s common areas before National Voter Registration Day..
  3. Leave posted through September for residents to access voter resources.

As we gear up for this fall’s election cycle, it is also important to share the following dates with your communities:

Registration: Most states require advance voter registration, with same-day registration available in 22 states and Washington, D.C. North Dakota does not require registration. To register to vote or to check your registration, visit CAI’s Voter Resource Center.

Early Voting Deadlines: Most states offer early in-person voting, although some leave regulations up to the county. Check here for a breakdown of early voting in your state.

Absentee Ballot Request Deadlines: Voters can apply (depending on your state) either in person, online, or by mail to vote absentee. Absentee ballots are generally due before the closing of polling stations on Election Day, but it is recommended to mail the ballot back with ample time to ensure timely delivery. To learn about your state’s specific requirements and track your absentee ballot, check here. To apply for your absentee ballot, visit CAI’s Voter Resource Center.

If these deadlines are too much to remember, you can always sign up for CAI’s Election Reminders through vote.org here.

CAI has resources to help you get involved, like hosting association registration drives, volunteering to be poll workers, or simply sharing our graphics on social media to #GetOuttheVote. CAI makes it easy to get involved. Let’s make our voices heard in 2024 and beyond.

Take Part in the Celebration

You can contribute to this vital mission by sharing your celebrations with CAI at government@caionline.org or by posting on social media with the hashtags #VoteReady, #CAIVotes, and #VoteforHome. Together, let’s ensure community associations are prepared and engaged in the democratic process for 2024 and beyond. It’s time to make our voices heard!
