The holiday season is underway. Community association residents nationwide are reflecting on 2025, and celebrating the winter holidays with their neighbors and loved ones.

Is your community hosting festive events such as a holiday potluck, tree lighting ceremony, gift exchange, holiday crafting event, or cookie decorating party? Is your local CAI chapter hosting a holiday trade show or winter celebration? Events like these are a great opportunity to engage with key decision-makers whose work impacts our industry and showcase what makes community association living great. Download CAI’s Constituents in Your Communities Guide, and learn more about how to invite elected state and federal officials to your community event, and why it’s so important.

Consider connecting with our team at CAI so we can help invite elected officials to your events. Elected officials are tasked with representing the needs and interests of all their constituents, and they depend on hearing from subject matter experts and people with diverse lived experiences to shape their policy decisions. By including them in your events, you give them the opportunity to learn more about community associations and the policies that impact their operation and success.

Direct constituent interactions have more influence on lawmakers’ decisions than any other advocacy strategy. Elected officials can be invited to play an active role in your event by making a speech, cutting a ribbon, or flipping a switch to turn on holiday lights —or simply mingle with residents.

Americans living in homeowners associations, condominiums, and housing cooperatives say they’re overwhelmingly satisfied in their communities, according to the Foundation for Community Association Research.  Inviting elected officials and their staff to attend a holiday event can help them experience and understand that sense of satisfaction. Help increase the effectiveness of CAI’s advocacy work by building critical relationships with lawmakers and their staff and spread the word about CAI and its resources.  Please submit your event online or contact government@caionline.org with any questions about our Constituents in Your Communities campaign.

Happy holidays from CAI’s Government and Public Affairs team!
