In hand with being a presidential election year, electing a president and vice president, all 435 U.S. House of Representative seats and 34 of 100 U.S. Senate seats are up for election. At the state level, 13 governors are up for election. These elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Promoting Civic Engagement in Community Associations
According to the Foundation for Community Association Research’s Homeowner Satisfaction Survey, a staggering 86% of all homeowners always or usually participate in national elections and 84% always or usually participate in state and local elections. CAI is taking proactive steps to empower and celebrate community association members’ active participation in the democratic process.
Here are upcoming critical civic holidays in 2024:
- Vote Early Day is on Oct.29
- Election Day is on Nov.5
It is not too late to get your communities and residents involved in this year’s voting process.
Registration: Most states require advance voter registration, with same-day registration available in 22 states and Washington, D.C. North Dakota does not require registration. To register to vote or to check your registration, visit CAI’s Voter Resource Center.
Early Voting Deadlines: Vote Early Day is a nonpartisan movement of media companies, businesses, nonprofits, election administrators, and creatives working to ensure all Americans have the tools to vote early. Most states offer early in-person voting, although some leave regulations up to the county. Check here for a breakdown of early voting in your state.
Absentee Ballot Request Deadlines: Voters can apply (depending on your state) either in person, online, or by mail to vote absentee. Absentee ballots are due before the closing of polling stations on Election Day, but it is recommended to mail the ballot with ample time to ensure timely delivery. To learn about your state’s specific requirements and track your absentee ballot, check here. To apply for your absentee ballot, visit CAI’s Voter Resource Center.
If these deadlines are too much to remember, you can always sign up for CAI’s election reminders through vote.org.
Take Part in a GOTV Initiative
