As 2023 ends, CAI’s Government and Public Affairs team thanks its legislative action committees (LACs) and volunteer advocates. These volunteers work on behalf of the 75.5 million Americans living in more than 355,000 community associations, according to the Foundation for Community Association Research. As this housing model continues to grow, CAI predicts the need for greater advocacy in 2024.

CAI’s more than 400 LAC members tracked over 2,200 bills. More than 15,000 CAI advocates sent 18,500 messages to state and federal legislators advocating for issues impacting their communities. Those efforts led to success at the state and federal levels in 2023.
